My first ever business was handmade jewelry when I was in High School back in 2004. I have always loved to accessorize, so the Desert Gems side of my business just made sense.
I've also been interested in the incredible properties of different stones/crystals since I was first drawn to turquoise in my youth. I have always thought of turquoise as my favorite color, however the stone itself always captures my attention. Later on in life, turquoise happens to bring me great comfort. It is my daughter's birthstone, my grandmother's birth stone, and the main stone in a lot of antique jewelry that my late grandmother left to me. I have been collecting various forms of turquoise for about 20 years, and utilize turquoise heavily in my jewelry now.
When I was going through a particularly rough season in the early 2010's, I started exploring crystals as a partner to meditation, mindfulness, and overall self-development. I am the person who has rose quartz tucked around their house, stones in their car cup holders, and I always have to check my pockets before doing laundry because I find myself carrying around random stones/rocks that speak to me.
I'll be posting more about my favorite stones to use in jewelry, and why I love to use them.
Please note that I'm not saying that I (or these stones) can cure diseases or solve problems, but I do know that mindfulness, intention and manifestation work- and these stones can be a big source of mindfulness when used correctly.
